When you unstuff this file there should be 858Kb of sound here, unless my logic board is still on the fritz. You may not want to use all of the sound files for your system file, if you are running low on hard disk space.
Pass these around if you want to, they are System 7 sounds and will only work on Apple computers. They also work on my Macintosh Plus which is System 6. If anyone out there can change the sound format to .wav format, go ahead, so that PCer's can hear the sounds too. I use them on ichat through Earthlink's Chat room.
You may need to change the name of some sound files to be heard on ichat. Like the "Electronic Telephone", should be changed to one word, such as, "phone".
And Medolic Ring to "ring", or whatever you want to name the file as. I also noticed that the whistle can be heard on other computers besides the Macintosh. That is bizarre.
Put these sounds in your system file:
1. To get these sounds into your system file you have to restart your Mac and hold down the shift key, until you see (extensions off) on your screen.
2. Then just drag & drop the sound files in your system folder and it will automatically move these files into your system file.
Note: any sounds that you want to use over ichat need to have single file names. Example: Electronic Telephone should be changed to whatever you want. I used "phone" as the file name. So the filename should be a single word. I also used lower-case letters, just in case of a case sensitive server.
Then restart.
To test the installation: Open the "Sound" control panel and double-click on your new sounds to hear them. You can also use one of the sounds as an alert sound.
